Lessons in Leadership: Doing the Right Things

Virginia McDowell, President and Chief Executive Officer, Isle of Capri Casinos Inc., has always performed at the top of her game. Among the top ten publicly-traded gaming corporations, she is the only female CEO. Her achievements include combining nearly thirty years of casino experience with strong business skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate at every level. Being named Gaming Executive of the Year for 2009 by Casino Journal Magazine, and receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in Marketing during the 2010 Romero Awards in Las Vegas are just two of a long list of recognitions she has earned.

Known for touching communities and the people in them, McDowell extends her leadership out of the office and into the community. She serves on and has helped found numerous charitable organizations, supporting causes ranging from cancer research to education to supporting women in business. She has been a featured speaker of several major industry conferences around the country.
