“Preparing your Next Employees with the Skills You Need”
At our November 21 Women's Network luncheon, Columbia Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Chris Belcher will speak on the topic of our changing needs for those who are new to the work force as well as what they need from us, the employer, in order to be successful.
Columbia Public Schools recognizes a need to create programs that place all graduates in the best possible position to be ready, whether they are college bound or plan to go straight into the workforce. Dr. Belcher will be providing some statistical information on what the graduate needs to be self sufficient and is interested in feedback from us as employers as to what we feel they need in order to succeed at work.
Dr. Belcher has been serving Columbia as Superintendent since July 2009 and has over 20 years of experience in public education, serving in roles from science teacher to principal to superintendent. He also served in higher education in the roles of professor, curriculum and administration at the University of Central Missouri. Dr. Belcher is an innovative educator and has brought many new programs to Columbia, including Project Lead the Way which is a science and math driven curriculum leading to technical careers such as engineering.
Come with your notes and ideas on what you are looking for in new hires, whether they are for positions for those just out of high school or new college graduates, and help Dr. Belcher shape our next hires.
Cost is $15 for members and $18 for guests online. Register online today or contact Elizabeth Tate, 874-1132 or etate@ColumbiaMOChamber.com with questions.
