Central Methodist University Message:
Founded in Fayette in the mid-1850s as Central College, Central Methodist University has evolved, now providing high-quality educational services to students of all ages and diverse interests, both in Missouri and – through its online programs – well beyond state borders.
The beautiful main campus in Fayette – designated a National Historic District - offers more than 40 undergraduate degree programs. Known as the CMU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, its cultural and recreational opportunities abound: from its renowned Swinney Conservatory of Music to the Morrison Observatory, Ashby-Hodge Gallery of American Art, Stephens Museum, intercollegiate athletics, theatre and much more, CMU offers something for all interests.
Beginning in 1989 with a pioneering partnership with Mineral Area College (Park Hills, Mo.) Central Methodist has been a leader in off-campus educational programming. The CMU College of Graduate and Extended Studies program is expansive and includes partnerships with every Missouri community college along with others in Illinois, Arkansas, Iowa and Kansas.
Columbia citizens are served through CMU’s presence at the Parkade Center (in cooperation with Moberly Area Community College) and at the Forum Shopping Center, which includes its Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Eleven undergraduate degree programs plus the Master of Science in Clinical Counseling are available through CMU in Columbia.
Increasing numbers of students of all ages are taking advantage of CMU Online programs. Sixteen undergraduate and two graduate programs are offered completely online, and CMU has embraced a business model that makes its off-campus and online programming very competitively priced.
At present CMU-Fayette is in the late stages of a $9.5 million renovation of its Stedman Hall of Science. This comes soon after the 2015 dedication of its $6.5 million Thogmorton Center for Allied Health.
These are exciting times, indeed, for Central Methodist University.
