Gold Sponsor message from Junior Achievement in Central Missouri:
Junior Achievement in Central Missouri has been providing economic, financial literacy and business education to local students since 2003. Our mission is to empower young people to own their economic success. We offer 24 interactive programs specifically designed for elementary, middle and high school students, with the majority of them volunteer-led by business and community volunteers.
During the 2017-18 school year, Junior Achievement was able to engage 7,525 students and 110 volunteers in Mid-Missouri, with the goal for this year to reach at least 9,000 students with 200 volunteers. Volunteers are able to use their real-world experiences to impact the students they teach. One classroom teacher wrote of her volunteer, “The students were very engaged and loved the lessons. She was absolutely wonderful!”
Junior Achievement also offers two capstone programs located in our St. Louis facility, which allow students to experience real-world simulations. Biztown is designated for fifth graders and gives them the opportunity to see what it takes to make a city operational by doing different jobs and even earning a paycheck. Finance Park is for high school students and takes them through a personal finance simulation that shows them how to create and live within a budget.
We have many dedicated volunteers and are very grateful for them, but we are always in need of more. We currently have schools that have requested programs and are waiting for a volunteer to make it possible!
