Explore the challenge and excitement of finding your passions through the eyes of several community leaders and entrepreneurs. Together, we will explore the complexities of loving your craft. Our panelists will expose what it meant to each of them to discover a craft and pursue a path toward this as a career. Sometimes the most difficult challenges to overcome are learning to take a new perspective on things and embrace failures as learning opportunities. Our panelists will reflect on past experiences, how these built the foundation for where they stand today and igniting passion within their team members.

Erica Pefferman
President, The Business Times Company
Erica Pefferman was born and raised in Joplin, MO. From a very young age, she was immersed in the family retail clothing business…beginning with wrapping presents during Christmas time at 9 years old all the way to managing the store and buying at markets across the country while she was still in college.
Erica attended both Missouri Southern State University as well as Columbia College in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with minors in Marketing and Management. After leaving college, Erica worked at an advertising agency until she started her own business in 2001. Erica became a part of Zimmer Radio Group in 2003, starting as an assistant and working her way up to Director of Sales in 2010.
Erica again had the desire to create something of her own and started The Ruckus Group in June 2012. Her company was conceived as she realized the great need of small businesses to stay relevant in today’s world by being authentically engaged. Thus, she designed Ruckus’ core areas of competency being in organizational health, multimedia communications and sales consulting.
A short year later, Erica became so passionate about one of her clients that she opted to put The Ruckus Group on the back burner and become a full time part of her client’s organization. She is now President of The Business Times Company which owns and operates three local magazines, four websites, seven signature events and a multitude of social channels.
Erica has been married to Brad for 10 years and has five children ranging in ages from 7 to 17 years old.
