EPIC Lunching Outside the Box: Building Community in the Workplace

 
 
 

 

This latest installment of EPIC's Lunching Outside the Box series features a panel of speakers that will talk about the importance of building community in the workplace. Learning how to take in all aspects in reagrds to disability, sexuality, race and religion can make a difference in the workplace.

 

Our speakers are:

  • Jim Whitt - Whitt serves as the Executive Director of cPhase Sports Association, a non-profit organization organization focused on providing, educational, social and spiritual growth and development opportunities for young males and females ages 12 through 18 through sports. Whitt is also the owner of JA Whitt LLC, a consulting firm focused on enhancing diverse business presence within business communities. Whitt is currently President of the Board of Education, for Columbia Public Schools. He has served on the Board of Education since 2009.
  • Dr. Julie Nelson Middleton - Middleton has recently retired from serving as Director of Organizational Development and Extension Professional, providing statewide leadership in the area of workforce equity, civil rights and diversity.  Dr. Middleton has also served as Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, in the MU College of Education. She has written a number of articles, received numerous grants and made countless scholarly professional presentations.
  • Noor Azizan-Gardner - Gardner is currently the assistant vice chancellor for the Division of Inclusion, Diversity & Equity at the University of Missouri and was previously the assistant deputy chancellor and chief diversity officer there. In this capacity, she provides leadership for the MU campus in integrating diversity and inclusion throughout the many divisions and units at the university. She also heads a team of professional staff which provides consultation, education, training and development and research in the areas of inclusion, diversity, cultural competency, organizational change and leadership development
  • Kat Cunningham - Cunningham founded Moresource in 1994 via a Small Business Administration loan. The services of Moresource include human resources, payroll, benefits and benefits administration, IT managed services along with bookkeeping and a full service insurance agency to businesses that range in size of one employee to one thousand, plus. She is extremely active in her community having raised in excess of four million dollars for various charities in Columbia and the surrounding areas.

The lunch will be held from 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Dulany Hall Banquet Room on the Columbia College Campus (600 N 8th St). Cost is $10 if you register online by Monday, April 25, 2016 or $13 at the door.
