SUMMARY:Women's Network Professional Development Luncheon: Celebrating Columbia's Black-Owned Businesses\, Then and Now
DESCRIPTION:In honor of Black History Month\, Women's Network is proud to welcome Barbra Horrell and Shaunda Hamilton to our monthly Professional Development Luncheon! \n\n\n\nBarbra Horrell serves on the boards of the Blind Boone Foundation\, the Sharp End African American Heritage Trail as well as the Mayor's Task Force for Columbia's Bicentennial Celebration (COMO 200). Barbra is a Columbia native and a graduate of one of the last segregated classes at Frederick Douglass High School. She and the organizations she leads are dedicated to working towards making Columbia life inclusive of the Black community. \n\n\n\nShaunda Hamilton is the owner of Heart and Home Professional Services LLC\, a State-Certified Minority and Women-Owned Enterprise\, where she has contracts with federal and state agencies for different project-based needs\, transportation and courier services\, and provides other subcontracting opportunities. Shaunda is also the co-founder and executive director of Boone County Community Against Violence (BCCAV)\, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. BCCAV is committed to providing advocacy throughout the community to those who have been affected directly or indirectly by violence\, grief\, loss and trauma. This is done by providing support aimed at empowering others through quality training\, unification projects\, and valuable supports to inspire a strengthened community. \n\n\n\nIn order to prevent the spread of COVID-19\, in-person seating capacity will be limited and pre-registration is required. All attendees must be on the guest list in order to be admitted. \n\n\n\nAs part of a new Chamber initiative to support our small businesses\, all virtual attendees will receive a $10 gift card to a local restaurant with their registration. Please register by noon on February 12 if you would like to receive your gift card before the event day.
