While that is a daunting statistic\, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbia (BGCC) is doing amazing things to level the playing field for all children in our community. Since 1997\, BGCC has been providing a special place for children to learn and grow\, serving nearly 700 kids and operating out of four locations. The Club is open during hours when kids are most likely to need a safe place to go – after school and during summer. The goal is to inspire and enable all young people\, especially those who need help the most\, to realize their full potential as productive\, responsible\, and caring citizens. Programs focused on such things as 1) character and leadership development 2) education\, technology and career development 3) health and life skills 4) music\, the arts and 5) sports\, fitness and recreation are producing some stunning results.
