Fifty years of service. Since 1969\, Voluntary Action Center has reached out to the Boone County community to help struggling families. A half century ago\, a group of community-minded citizens organized VAC to facilitate and encourage volunteerism. They recognized a growing need for a bridge between those wanted to help and those who most needed help. Through their vision\, they created an organization designed to fill the void\, a vision that continues to this day. Today the agency helps our neighbors by providing co-pays for medical purposes\, work uniforms for new employees\, school supplies for students\, rent assistance for people who are homeless &ndash\; and much\, much more.

\nYou may have been involved with VAC by sponsoring a family for our Holiday Program\, collecting coats for Warm Up Columbia\, or volunteering for Lunch in the Park. And you may have made a financial donation\, making it possible for VAC to serve almost 7\,000 adults and children in 2018 with these seasonal programs as well as the ongoing day-to-day services we provide year-round.

\nSupporting our neighbors in the areas of Health\, Employment\, Education\, Housing\, and Basic Needs\, VAC is helping to bridge the gaps between crisis and stability.
